A Family Centered Approach

Jean-Luc J. Forest

Jean-Luc J. Forest

Everyone can benefit from a family centered perspective and creative problem solving in family law issues. Using a tailored approach built around your needs and your family, I help deliver timely and positive results. You can become informed, educated, and take an active role in the resolution of your family law issues as I advise you and advocate on your behalf.

You will benefit from an efficient, effective and empowering process for your circumstances.  Family law disputes can be a difficult period for you and anyone else involved and each unique circumstance requires careful consideration.  You deserve my commitment to a principled and respectful approach to resolving the delicate issues that arise in family matters.

I bring strong interpersonal skills and understanding into finding solutions with you. Where appropriate, I can assist you in reaching practical and, if possible, mutually beneficial solutions, as an alternative to or prior to resorting to litigation.

Sometimes this requires a team approach and you may benefit from working with other professional services that can assist you in coming to the best possible resolution of your family matters.  As your lawyer, I can work actively and coordinate with financial planners, accountants, tax advisors, therapists or others.  If you are not sure what other services will best support you, I can assist you in finding the right professionals.

About Jean-Luc J. Forest

Originally from the Canadian prairies, I have also lived and studied in France, Montreal, and Victoria, before moving to Vancouver to live and raise my now two grown children.

I am keenly aware that it is important for spouses to consider options outside of Court where their interests can still be protected and where the complexities of their unique lives and families can be respected. The difficulties that we experience at a time of tremendous change and often personal loss affords each of us an opportunity to navigate our dealings with a view to building all the more sustainable resolutions. This informs my continued learning and engagement with people who find themselves in conflict.

I am an accomplished athlete, particularly in disc sports and played at the international level for many years. I am a co-founder and Hall of Fame member of the Manitoba Organization of Disc Sports (MODS), the first disc sports organization in Canada to incorporate and the first to receive provincial sports organization status in Canada. MODS is home to the third largest Ultimate League in the world.

I am bookish in philosophy and critical theory; it all comes back to laughter.
